I recently uploaded a few clips of Lifetime’s Dance Moms because I wanted to embed the videos on my site to support my point that Cathy is an attention seeking whore. While I made the point that I wanted, I also unintentionally started getting subscribers on my youtube channel. It’s crazy how much pressure you feel when you get subscribers, least to me. I have all these teenage dancers subscribing to my channel wanting to see clips from Dance Moms.

So what do I do?

I continued uploading Dance Mom clips. I now have well over a hundred clips from the show, and I have people subscribe every other day or so. My subscriber count is only 30 or so, but I still feel that they are expecting more and more uploads. I contacted Lifetime on Youtube and tried to reach an agreement where I would link to their site as long as they didn’t remove all my uploads because many of them are tagged with content ID matches and can be removed whenever Lifetime feels like it.

It’s a lot of work/time cutting the clips from the show and uploading them with proper titles, tags, and descriptions. If Lifetime takes down the clips, all of that will go down the drain. I plan on uploading clips from the rest of the season and just hope Lifetime understands that it’s basically advertising their product. Most clips are about 3 minutes long and focus on one dance or mom.

Because of the influx in subscribers and the pressure to keep the uploads coming, I now have a demographic composed almost entirely of girls between the ages of 13 – 17.  That is almost the complete opposite of the demographics of this site. I feel a little awkward having a Youtube channel with that demographic. What’s worse is that I feel guilty now when I upload videos other than Dance Moms such as The Iceman Tapes: Conversations With a Killer. I can just picture some 13 year old girl clicking the video and watching an interview with a mafia hit man. Hopefully, not many will.

Anyways, I know this is more of rambling than anything else, but I wanted to get it off my chest.
